The lady with the lamp

Many years ago in a very rich and well-connected family was born a girl. As it happened in Florence, Italy her parents gave her such a name and I’m sure they had no chance to predict how a rebelled woman she would be.

To fulfilled her belief, passion and mission in life, she had to be in opposition to both her family and the social code. She left her great love. She worked hard. She experienced the war fighting against the death successfully. She set the way of compassion and commitment to people / patients care. And her life is an example of a true medical career. Her words about success?

I attribute my success to this – I never gave or took any excuse.

How much struggle she had to put up in order to live her life!

Why today so many of us give up and practice to get a master of excuse?

* The annual International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on 12th May – the day of the birth of Florence Nightingle.
