Perfection

I’m riding a bike in the afternoon while I’m caught in a summer shower. The smell of greenness is overwhelming. In my basket there are berries, peaches and a fresh loaf of bread. And…

No, I’m not falling down, but I’m experiencing what perfection is.

What does perfection mean for me? This is a moment e.g. while you’re riding a bike. At work it happens when I shake someone’s hand after not only successful meeting, but also time spend in happy atmosphere. Perfection is not about how something was done, but what impression it gives. I experience it when all senses send the message ‘this is wonderful, just perfect!’.

Perfection in business? It shows which direction we should take. It guides like the stars used to guide sailors. Achieving a goal is less important than trying to achieve it. Great projects mean instant development.

Perfectionists? I admire them and I keep a distance. I admire them because they are competent and hard working people. On the other hand, there is often a despot inside a perfectionist. When I cooperate with someone I’d like to not only admire him, but also like him. In case of a perfectionist, it is hard to like.

Definition? It’s worth knowing our personal definition of perfection and learn about others. I like the thought of Antoine de Saint-Exupery: ‘Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away’.  Maybe he discovered it flying… Of course, a mean of transport is not important, however I recommend a bike.
